Laparoskopi

Operation Description

Laparoscopy is a modern, minimally invasive (closed) surgical procedure that allows the interior of the abdomen to be visualized using a specialized camera system. The abdominal cavity is inflated with carbon dioxide gas through a thin needle, and a camera is inserted through this inflated area, allowing detailed observation of internal organs.
When is it Used?
At Momart IVF Center, laparoscopy is frequently used for the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that can lead to infertility, including:
• Removal or ligation of tubes (especially inflamed or fluid-filled tubes—hydrosalpinx)
• Repair of cesarean scar defects (istmoceles) that cannot be corrected with hysteroscopy
• Evaluation of tube patency
• Removal of some intrauterine fibroids
• Treatment of ovarian cysts (especially endometriosis)
• Correction of some types of congenital uterine anomalies
Advantages of Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy offers many advantages over traditional open surgery:
✅ Smaller incisions
✅ Less pain
✅ Lower risk of infection
✅ Shorter hospital stay
✅ Faster return to daily life
✅ Less aesthetic scarring
With these features, it is a safe and modern surgical approach that offers high patient comfort.
How is Laparoscopy Performed?
Laparoscopy is performed under general anesthesia. A small incision is made in the belly button to access the abdomen. Carbon dioxide gas is injected to create a working area, and a camera is inserted. With this clear image in hand, the surgeon performs procedures through other smaller incisions, using specialized surgical instruments if necessary.

What is the Recovery Process Like?
Patients undergoing laparoscopic procedures for infertility are usually discharged the same day.

• Stitch removal is not required.

• Return to daily life is possible within 1-2 days.

• Short-term painkillers or antibiotics may be used if necessary.

• A one-day hospital stay may be recommended after more major procedures (e.g., fibroid removal).
